Program Options
Prereq (all programs): campers must be able to swim comfortably and be willing to participate in water activities.
At-a-Glance
Snorkeling Camp (Single Day)
A guided, ocean-focused day built around confidence, skill-building, and exploring San Diego’s best nearshore spots. Choose the track that matches your camper.
- 2 guided snorkel tours with a break (campers bring lunch)
- Bring: water bottle, sun protection, towel, warm change of clothes
Pool Scuba Camps (Single Day)
A supervised pool-based introduction to scuba built for safety, comfort, and confidence. Choose the option that matches your camper’s age group.
- Gear rental included (sizes requested ahead of time)
- Campers must be able to swim and willing to participate in water activities
Summer Day Camp (Weeklong)
The full Junior Dive Academy week: marine science + ocean days + pool-based scuba experiences, designed to build real water skills and confidence.
- Half-day classroom + half-day water activities
- Includes guided ocean snorkeling + pool scuba session(s)
- 2026 Themes: Cetacean Migrations (July 20–24) + Sea Lions & Seals (Aug 3–7)
- Campers can earn their PADI Skin Diver certification during camp
- JDA Recognition: encourage campers to earn recognition after completing 3 week-long JDA camps

Age Guidelines (quick clarity)
- Snorkeling Camp: Novice (ages 8–12) + Intermediate (ages 12–16).
- Pool Scuba Camps: Bubblemaker (ages 8–12, max depth 6 ft) + Discover Scuba (ages 10–16, max depth 12 ft).
- Weeklong Camp: Designed for ages 8–12.

- Does my camper need prior snorkeling experience? No — campers should be comfortable swimming and willing to participate in water activities.
- Does my camper need prior scuba experience? No — these are introductory pool-based scuba experiences. A medical questionnaire is required before any in-water scuba activities.
- Can my camper earn a cert? Campers can earn their PADI Skin Diver certification during the weeklong camp.
- Where are the snorkeling locations? Snorkeling locations vary based on ocean conditions and visibility. Pool scuba camp location details are listed on the course page.
- What should we bring? Water bottle, sun protection, towel, warm clothes for changing, and any lunch/snacks as required for the day.
