Jamie Franks - Instructor

Jamie is a highly accomplished diver, instructor, and professional Waterman with more than 25 years of combined military, professional, and recreational experience in some of the world’s most demanding environments.

Since earning his first SCUBA certification in San Diego in 2004, Jamie has logged hundreds of dives across the globe—deep, rescue, wreck, drift, night, and reef—each contributing to his reputation as a versatile and technically skilled diver. He became a Divemaster in 2023 and advanced to PADI Open Water SCUBA Instructor in 2025, further solidifying his commitment to developing new divers and elevating safe diving practices.

Jamie’s foundation was forged in the U.S. Navy as a Rescue Swimmer, where he was trained to execute life-saving missions in extreme conditions, including high seas, hurricane-force winds, and combat zones. During multiple overseas deployments, he conducted rescues from helicopters, small boats, and ships, aiding downed pilots and survivors of maritime disasters. Guided by the motto “So others may live,” he went on to serve as a Rescue Swimmer Instructor, Water Survival Instructor, and LCAC Hovercraft Pilot and Instructor.

Beyond the water, Jamie is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, camping, bushcraft, and off-roading. He was also one of the highest-ranked competitive shooters in the world and continues to instruct in firearms and tactics—adding another dimension to his already diverse skill set.

Widely regarded as a gifted instructor, Jamie specializes in high-risk training environments where exceptional leadership, technical competence, and safety are paramount. He is known for his ability to connect with students, build their confidence, and deliver personalized instruction that produces measurable growth and lasting skill.
