Join us at Ocean Enterprises for Lobster 101 with Chelsea Brown, who holds the record for the San Diego Freediver's biggest lobster caught by hand during the 2025–2026 season!

Geared toward newer lobster divers, this class will walk you through everything you need to know before heading out for California spiny lobster season—from the rules and required licenses to where to look, what gear you need, and how to actually catch one.

We’ll cover:
• Current California spiny lobster rules and regulations
• Licenses, report cards, size and bag limits
• Where you can (and can’t) legally hunt for lobster
• Essential gear and how to use it
• How to scout for lobster and find promising habitat
• Catching techniques, handling and release
• Safety tips and best practices for a successful night dive

We also encourage divers to come meet others in the local dive community and connect with potential new dive buddies for lobster season. Come with your questions, meet some fellow divers, and leave feeling a whole lot more prepared for opening night.
